# Glossary training passages

These original sentences and manually authored French examples accompany the BookTranslator glossary-building article. LeafDeck and the project decisions are fictional. They are not customer data, AI-service outputs, an engineering specification, or a certified terminology list. All `approved` states in the CSV refer only to the illustrative editorial exercise.

## 1. One source spelling, two concepts

- Source: The capacitor stores electric charge.
- Illustrative French: Le condensateur stocke une charge électrique.
- Source: The delivery charge is shown before payment.
- Illustrative French: Les frais de livraison sont indiqués avant le paiement.
- Review question: Does the chosen term match the electrical or billing concept? A global source-string replacement cannot answer that.

## 2. Verb versus component noun

- Source: Seal the envelope before dispatch.
- Illustrative French: Scellez l’enveloppe avant l’envoi.
- Source: Replace the rubber seal.
- Illustrative French: Remplacez le joint en caoutchouc.
- Review question: Is the source an action or a component? For real equipment, a domain reviewer must also confirm which component is meant.

## 3. A project preference, not a universal ban

- Source: Open the workspace that contains the draft.
- Illustrative French: Ouvrez l’espace de travail qui contient le brouillon.
- Review question: Is this the named application container? The rejected variant in the CSV is a project-specific consistency decision, not a claim that it is always wrong French.

## 4. Intentional retention

- Source: Connect LeafDeck to your computer.
- Illustrative French: Connectez LeafDeck à votre ordinateur.
- Review question: Does the product name retain exact spelling and case? The surrounding instruction should still be translated.

## 5. Approval does not cross meanings

- Source: Sync the device library.
- Illustrative French: Synchronisez la bibliothèque de l’appareil.
- Proposed source label: Sync appears above the status panel.
- Review question: The verb entry is approved for the demo. The status-panel label remains draft because its meaning has not been resolved. Do not export the draft or silently treat it as the verb.

## Suggested use

Keep the annotated master. Copy it for your own project, remove the demonstration rows, add your actual source references, and obtain the required language/domain review. If testing a translation service, save its raw output and version/settings separately; the manually authored examples above are acceptance illustrations, not measured service results.
