Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 2026-08-04
This Privacy Policy outlines how Lovin, LLC ("we", "our", "us", or the "Company"), the operator of BookTranslator (the "Service"), collects, uses, maintains, and discloses information collected from users ("User", "you", or "your") of the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Summary in Plain Words
- We collect only what we need to run the Service: your email address, your payment records, the files you upload, and basic usage data.
- Your books are used only to produce your translation. We do not use your files or translations to train AI models, and we never sell or share them for marketing.
- We never sell your personal information, and we do not run third-party advertising trackers on the Service.
- You can access, correct, or delete your data anytime by emailing support@booktranslator.app.
1. Information We Collect
Personal Information:
- Your name and email address when you create an account, whether with an email and password or through a sign-in provider such as Google or Microsoft, or the email address you provide when you check out as a guest.
- Payment information when you make a purchase. Payments are processed by Stripe, our payment provider; we do not store your full card details on our servers.
Content Information:
- The books and documents (EPUB, PDF, DOCX, or other supported file types) that you upload for translation, and the translated output the Service generates for you.
Technical Information:
- Log data including your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, and version, as well as usage data such as the time and frequency of your use of the Service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide and improve the Service.
- To manage your account and provide customer support.
- To process transactions and send you related information, including confirmations and invoices.
- To notify you about your tasks, such as when a translation is ready to download.
- For analytics and experimentation, to understand how users access and use the Service and to make it better.
3. Analytics and Cookies
We use PostHog for product analytics, feature flags, and experiments. This helps us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. We also use first-party Intercom session cookies to keep customer-support conversations available while you use the Service. We do not run third-party advertising trackers on the Service, and we do not sell usage data to advertisers or data brokers.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We rely on a small number of service providers to operate the Service, and we share with each of them only what is needed for their role:
- Stripe processes payments.
- Supabase provides authentication and data infrastructure.
- Cloudflare provides hosting and file storage.
- Third-party AI model providers receive the content of your files solely to generate your translation.
- Intercom provides customer-support messaging. For signed-in users, we send a cryptographically signed account identifier and available profile details such as name, email, and account creation time. For anonymous visitors, Intercom processes the technical, conversation, and session data needed to operate Messenger.
5. Data Retention
Your translation records and associated files are retained for a limited period so you can return to your History page and download completed work; the exact retention window can depend on your account state or plan. Storage is not indefinite, so we recommend downloading important results promptly. When you delete a record from your history, the associated files are also deleted from our servers.
6. Data Security
We implement security measures to ensure the confidentiality of your personal information and the books you upload, and we encrypt data in transmission and in storage. We do not copy, sell, or disseminate your uploaded books, and we do not use your files or translated output to train AI models. Your content is used only to provide the translation service you requested.
7. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We never sell your personal information. Beyond the service providers described above, your personal information will not be disclosed to third parties except as follows:
- To comply with legal obligations or governmental requests.
- To protect our rights and property.
- To prevent fraud or potential illegal activities.
- To enforce our policies.
8. Your Data Rights
You have the right to access, correct, amend, or delete the information we hold about you. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; we honor reasonable access and deletion requests regardless of your location. To exercise these rights, contact us at the details below.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Copyright Inquiries
If you believe that your copyright has been infringed by someone using our Service, please contact us immediately with proof of infringement. We will take appropriate action, such as removing the infringing content and taking action against users who violate our policies or the law.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy.
